Mr. Scott Boudreaux has been named St. Cecilia School’s 2018 Supporter of the Year. During the past decade, Scott has given his time, treasures, and talents helping our school accomplish its mission. He has served on our School Advisory Council, is currently president of the Sacred Heart Pastoral Council, and still serves as the school’s facility/ maintenance chair and Assistant Athletic Director. Scott has organized and poured much sweat equity into many summer school beautification work days. You name it – painting, pressure washing, trimming trees, sprucing up flower beds or just helping out in any way needed, including car line duty – Scott is there with a willing hand and humble heart to simply offer his service with a smile. And those of you who know him, know that this is just the beginning of the depth of his commitment to and love of St. Cecilia. He has certainly been a good steward of God’s blessings as he has shared so much of himself with his St. Cecilia family. Scott and his wife Mindy are the parents of Colin (SCS Class of 2017) and Jacob (5th grade).
In addition to honoring our Supporter of the Year, the faculty of St. Cecilia votes for Teacher of the Year. It is generally agreed upon that this teacher has had some significant impact upon her students. In this teacher’s tenure at St. Cecilia, she has always trusted and allowed God, either alone or through the actions of others, to guide her in being the best she can be in fulfilling the mission of bringing Jesus to others. Congratulations to Mrs. Cristy Savoie, SCS junior high religion teacher. Cristy and her husband Shane are the parents of four children: Elijah, Emma (5th grade), Ella (1st grade), and Ezekiel.
Students in grades 5th and 8th with a minimum grade point average of 3.5 are eligible to compete in the Louisiana Student of the Year contest. Grades, along with ACT Aspire scores and teacher’s votes, are tallied in order to compile a list of finalists in each grade level.
